The Food Pantry at Pope John serves parishioners and any individual or family living in the area of the parish who are in need of food. The group serves approximately 30+ families each month.
The pantry is supported by the generosity of our parishioners and the Liverpool community who provide donations of non-perishable food items and funds to contribute to the purchase of perishable items.
During the summer months, the pantry is also supported by our parish garden which supplies the pantry with fresh produce to be distributed to those in need.
The pantry is available once a month providing approximately five meals for each family member. The services of the pantry are confidential and may be accessed by contacting the Parish Office at 315-652-6591.
The pantry is always in need of non-perishable food items such as tuna fish, vegetables, peanut butter, soup, pasta, and rice.
Help is also needed to purchase perishable items such as meat, bread, eggs, juice, and margarine. This is paid for with money from the Human Development Committee fund. You can make donations through the weekly collection, make sure to mark the donation for the food pantry.
Volunteers are always needed to sort, box, shelve, and distribute food.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Parish Office at 315-652-6591.
