We invite you to join us for the 2nd Annual African Cultural Mass on Sunday, September 20 at 2:00 PM at Pope John XXIII.
Following the wonderful response to last year’s inaugural celebration, we look forward to once again gathering for a joyful celebration of faith, culture, and community. Led by the vibrant African community within our parishes, this special liturgy will celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Africa and the many gifts they bring to the life of the Church.
The Mass will feature music from an African choir, special offertory gifts, and other cultural traditions woven into the celebration. Priests of African heritage from throughout the Diocese of Syracuse have also been invited to concelebrate.
In the spirit of thanksgiving that is an important part of many African celebrations, those attending are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for local food pantries or a monetary gift as an offering of gratitude.
Following Mass, everyone is invited to continue the celebration at a light reception featuring African snacks.
All are welcome! Whether you joined us last year or will be experiencing the African Cultural Mass for the first time, we hope you will join us for this beautiful celebration of the faith and cultures that enrich our Catholic community.
